What comes next after The Shift?
29/12/2025
What surprises you today is what you’ll look forward to tomorrow.
Members of Alpro, De Lijn and Aspiravi explain in De Standaard how they are shaping a sustainable future. Food, transport and energy after *The Shift*.
The message emerging from the three discussions is strikingly unanimous: the transitions in food, transport and energy are no longer abstract visions of the future, but concrete developments that are already taking shape today. According to the participating members:
“The food of the future will only succeed if it strikes the right balance between health, the climate and social acceptance. And, above all, if it tastes absolutely delicious. Sustainability only really works when people enjoy it.” – Alice Lemesle, Alpro / Danone Benelux – Read more
“Sustainable mobility is not just about a greener fleet, but above all about fewer cars, more space and a different way of organising travel. Technology helps, but the real benefits lie in shared transport and cross-sector collaboration.” – Ann Schoubs, De Lijn – Read more
“The energy transition does not require technological miracles, but a change in mindset. Those who continue to view energy as a cost will miss out on the opportunity. Those who invest in local production and smart systems will gain in predictability, resilience and competitiveness.” – Bert Deprest, Aspiravi – Read more
Taken together, these stories show that sustainable choices do not hold back ambition or innovation. On the contrary: they open up new perspectives on how businesses create value – rooted in the local community, technologically smart and thoughtfully designed with people in mind. Not by radically overhauling everything, but by reorganising systems step by step.
The Shift brings these pioneers together around a single shared conviction: progress is achieved when organisations look beyond their own boundaries, share their experiences and work together to develop solutions that work – both today and tomorrow.
