Governance and organization

Diversity is the cornerstone of any healthy and sustainable ecosystem. Discover how this is also reflected in our General Assembly and Board of Directors.

General Assembly

Every member organization of The Shift is automatically part of the General Assembly. Each member has one vote and thus actively contributes to the direction we take together.

We meet every spring to approve the board’s annual planning, budget, financial statements and mandates. This keeps policies transparent, supported and in motion.

Board of Directors

Twelve board members are committed to helping think out the organization’s vision and long-term strategy. They meet four times a year to discuss finances, strategy and the smooth operation of The Shift:

  • Tim Van den Bossche, CEO Carmeuse Europe, Middle East and Asia (Chair)
  • Amy Verbeke, Co-Founder, Mosquito in the Room
  • Béatrice de Mahieu, Deputy CEO, Finance & Invest Brussels
  • Chris Claes, Director, Rikolto International
  • David Suetens, Independent Non-Executive Director
  • Gilda Neiman, Independent Non-Executive Director
  • Koen Verwee, CEO, Mediahuis Belgium
  • Marleen Denef, Co-Founder, Impact Advocaten
  • Muriel Bernard, Founder, eFarmz
  • Philippe Weiler, CEO, Fairtrade Belgium
  • Valerie De Cock, PhD, ULB
  • Wim Allegaert, Independent Non-Executive Director

Our directors bring the diversity of our members to life. They are active in diverse sectors and social domains, pooling their expertise to accelerate the transition together.

They are elected by the General Meeting for a three-year term of office, with the possibility of one renewal. Each director sits independently. The chairman is elected among the directors.
