Governance and organisation
A diversity of voices is the cornerstone of any healthy organisation. Find out below how this is reflected in our General Assembly and Board of Directors.

General Assembly
Every member organisation of The Shift is automatically part of the General Assembly. Each member has one vote and thus actively contributes to the direction we go in together.
We meet every spring to approve the Board’s annual planning, budget, financial statements and mandates. This ensures our policies remain transparent, have a wide support base and are ready to be set in motion.
Board of Directors
Ten board members work with us to help supervise the organisation’s vision and long-term strategy. They meet four times a year to discuss finances, strategy and the smooth operation of The Shift:
- Tim Van den Bossche, CEO Carmeuse Europe, Middle East and Asia (chair)
- Muriel Bernard, Founder eFarmz
- Corinne Boulangier, RTBF innovation manager
- Grégor Chapelle, Director Music Chapel Queen Elisabeth
- Chris Claes, Director Rikolto International
- Valerie De Cock, PhD ULB
- Marleen Denef, Co-founder impact lawyers
- Amy Verbeke, Co-founder Mosquito in the Room
- Koen Verwee, CEO Mediahuis Belgium
- Philippe Weiler, CEO Fairtrade Belgium
Our directors represent the diversity of our membership. They are active in various sectors and walks of life, pooling their expertise to help us accelerate the transition together.
They are elected in the General Meeting for a three-year term of office, a mandate that can be renewed once. Each director sits independently. The chair is elected from among the directors.
